Background

For over 25 years, I have been providing quality, personalized financial guidance to individuals and businesses. My expertise ranges from basic tax management and accounting services to more in-depth services such as audits, financial statements, and financial planning.

Having no staff to hand client tax preparation off to assure that every client receives the close analysis and personal attention they deserve. My dedication to high standards and work ethic is the reason my clients return year after year.

I have owned and operated Mountain Waters Rafting in the Durango area for over 25 years (Not many businesses with over 50 employees have had the same management and ownership for 25 years in the Durango area). Many CPA firms offer advice from CPA’s who have never run a small business. I know what it is like to stand in the shoes of a small business owner and make decisions.

I was a Colorado Real estate broker for 10 years; I have completed the AICPA accreditation classes in business valuation and financial planning. I have been a quickbooks pro advisor and has taught quickbooks classes to small business owners for 15 years.

Recourses and Education

I use Lacerte Tax software and Lacerte Document Management system for tax preparation and my paperless office operation. Thomson Reuter’s Checkpoint Desktop tax research package is what I use for tax research to ensure that I am using the most current tax law and court cases. My web site provides a secure portal to protect clients from identity theft, the web site also provides a monthly client news letters and tools to aide clients in business decisions and financial planning.

Forty hours of continuing professional education each year ensure that I am up to date on tax law and current court cases. It also provides additional sources of tax research to make sure my clients get the most advantageous interpretation of the tax law. These classes also provide a source of tax professionals to ask questions about client tax situations.

Community Involvement

I have been active in the Durango Area Chamber of Commerce (business education committee chairman), the City of Durango Animas River Task Force and School District 9R (on the strategic planning committee and as a volunteer bus driver for Durango High School ski club).
